Steve Uyehara is an American three-time Emmy award-winning anchor working at Hawaii News Now where he serves as a morning anchor at 4:30 a.m. He joined the KGMB9 /Hawaii News Now team in 2000.

While working for Hawaii News Now, he has been to Rome for the canonization of St. Damien, got to fly with the Blue Angels, and been to   New Orleans for the Warriors’ Sugar Bowl appearance. He also had the opportunity to go to New York and Notre Dame where he covered local boy Manti Teo’s career. In addition, he gained the attention of his news director’s head back in 2001 after the Ehime Maru tragedy and after working hard, he was promoted to serving as a weekend sports anchor. While Uyehara was in the sports department, he covered everything from the Ewa Beach Little Leaguers’ World Series run to Michelle Wie’s career and every UH sport. Furthermore, he has won the Mark Twain and Edward R. Murrow awards.
