Steve Overmyer Biography
Steve Overmyer is an American sports anchor and reporter working for CBS New York as a weekend host of Sports Update on the station and WLNY 10/55. He joined the CBS2 news team in February 2011.
Prior to joining CBS2, Overmyer worked for SportsNet in New York (SNY) where he served as an anchor and reporter. While at SportsNet, he worked on Jets Post Game Live as the field reporter and on Goal with Mike Tannenbaum as a studio host. In addition, while working at SNY, he also served as a host, field reporter for all New York teams, and anchor of the nightly highlight show. Prior to relocating to New York in 2006, Steve worked at CNN in Atlanta where he served as a sports anchor for 5 years.
Steve served as the evening sports anchor for CNN Headline News and host of the award-winning NFL Sunday Night Blitz. Furthermore, from 1997 to 2001, Overmyer worked at KPNX-TV the NBC station in Phoenix, Arizona where he served as a reporter covering a number of professional sports teams such as; Phoenix Suns, Arizona Cardinals, and Arizona Diamondbacks. In addition, Steve started his broadcasting career at WBBH-TV in Fort Myers, Florida where he served as a sports director.
While Overmyer worked for WBBH-TV, he earned an AP Florida Sportscaster of the Year Award. Over the years, he has covered the region’s most memorable events including; the Yankees World Series of 2009, both Giants Super Bowl wins in 2007 and 2012, and Derek Jeter’s final game at Yankee Stadium. In addition, Steve is an active member of the community and he works closely with several charities in New York such as; Hartley House, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Stephen A. Siller Tunnel 2 Towers Foundation. Indiana is Steve’s native home and he attended Vincennes University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism.
