Somara Theodore is an American Emmy-winning meteorologist working for NBC4 as a weekend meteorologist, on NBCWashington.com, and on 103.5 WTOP Radio. She joined the NBC4 team in 2016.
Theodore was brought up in cities such as Honolulu, New York City, Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Pottstown, and is an avid Instagrammer! She gained interest in weather at a young age and in 2008, she joined Penn State University where she graduated in 2013, with a major in Meteorology and minors in Energy Business and Finance as well as Mandarin Chinese. While Somara was in college, she analyzed data at NOAA’s Center for Atmospheric Science at Howard University, conducted research with a NASA-funded research team through Penn State, and took part in a field study in China. In addition, she later did her internship at WGCL CBS Atlanta, WUSA CBS 9 in Washington D.C., and The Weather Channel.
Later on, Somara started her career in Savannah, Georgia where she served as a weekend meteorologist. She also worked on Good Morning Cleveland as the morning meteorologist in Cleveland, Ohio and while she was there, she won an Emmy for her morning weathercast of a deadly plane crash in Akron. Furthermore, she is active in the community and whenever she can, she reaches out to people in need in any way she can. During her leisure time, she enjoys; eating roti, and ice skating, and she is an avid Instagrammer!
