Sherrie Leblanc Biography
Sherrie Leblanc is an American popularly known as the wife of the songwriter, singer and DON MOEN Praise & Worship Leader Lenny LeBlanc.
Lenny Leblanc Career
LeBlanc’s journey into music began with summers spent surfing on the beach until he encountered teens playing guitars. Motivated by this experience, he secured a job washing dishes to finance his first bass guitar. Throughout the next three years of school, he honed his musical skills, playing at dances and local clubs around Daytona and developing his vocal talents. After graduating high school in 1969, he relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio in 1970. Inspired by his friend Pete Carr, a former band member turned successful producer and studio guitarist in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, he joined him. Over the next few months, he not only played bass but also provided background vocals for various artists, including Hank Williams Jr., Crystal Gayle, Etta James, Shenandoah, Ricky Skaggs, Sawyer Brown, The Supremes, Joan Baez, Amy Grant, and Roy Orbison.
With success as a background musician and singer, he ventured into a solo career. In 1975, he recorded a demo that caught the attention of Jerry Wexler at Atlantic Records. Subsequently, his first solo LP was released. Partnering with Carr, they recorded an album credited to LeBlanc and Carr, resulting in three chart singles, including the top 40 hit “Falling.” The duo toured with major acts, but Carr’s preference for making records over promotion led them to part ways before recording a follow-up album. LeBlanc continued as a solo artist, this time with Capitol Records. Notably, on February 25, 1978, Casey Kasem reported on the American Top 40 show that LeBlanc and Carr narrowly avoided the ill-fated flight that claimed some members of the rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Last-minute travel plan changes prevented them from boarding the plane, initially offered seats on the doomed flight. In 1980, LeBlanc experienced a significant shift in his life, embracing Christianity. This transformation led him to focus on recording Christian-themed music, resulting in albums like “Say a Prayer” (1983) and “Person to Person” (1984) released by Heartland Records. In 1987, he established his recording studio in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, where he not only works on his own productions but collaborates with other artists as well. Additionally, he has been awarded and recognized in his time as a musician. “Falling,” a song co-authored by Lenny LeBlanc, achieved significant milestones, earning the distinction of being a BMI Millionaire song with over one million radio plays.
Moreover, it was recognized as one of Billboard’s all-time favorite Top 40 Hits. His contributions extended to the Dove Awards. Here, “Above All,” a worship album featuring Michael W. Smith, Lenny LeBlanc, and Paul Baloche, won the Inspirational Recorded Song of the Year in 2003. In 2010, LeBlanc expanded his musical collaborations by working with prominent Asian artists, including Brian Joo, Van Ness Wu, Choi Siwon, and John Lee, on the 3RD Wave Music project. This venture showcased his versatility and his ability to make impactful contributions across various genres and cultural landscapes.
