Haygood joined the WBRC 6 News in 1994, as a Sports Reporter and over the years, he became one of the city’s most beloved weekend sports anchor. Later in 2019, Sheldon started transitioning into news and he is currently helps with Good Day Alabama in the morning. In addition, Haygood is also an anchor for WBRC 6 News at Noon. Sheldon was brought up in a military home thus he relocated quit often. He has always loved sport from a young age and this fueled his desire to take up a career in covering sports. While Haygood was in highschol, he was part of the sports team and after having completed highschool, he worked on radio as a disc jockey. In addition, Haygood attended Southwest Texas State University where he graduated with a degree in Journalism.
After having graduated, Sheldon began his television career at KMID-TV in Midland, Texas. While woring at KMID-TV, hhe served as a reporter and weekend anhor. Later on, Sheldon relocated to Lubbock where he served as a Sports Director. Not long after, he received an offer from WHOA-TV (now WNCF-TV) in Montgomery, Alabama. After having wored at WHOA-TV for some time, he left the station, and joined the WBRC team in 1994.
