Scott Thuman is an American Emmy-Award Winning reporter working for KOMO NEWS as a Chief Political Correspondent. Furthermore, he is also a primary correspondent for the Sunday morning national news program alongside Sharyl Attkisson. He joined the KOMO NEWS team in January 2016, after previously working for IF Management Inc.

Thuman attended Martin County High School in Stuart, Florida, and pursued his higher education at Florida Southern College in Lakeland. At Florida Southern College, he majored in Communications and minored in Spanish. Additionally, he has completed the F.B.I. Citizens’ Academy at their Washington Field Office, showcasing his interest and involvement in law enforcement and community engagement. He initiated his television career, working from 1995 to 2000 in Jacksonville, Florida.
Following this, he spent an additional five years in Orlando before eventually making his way to Washington D.C. in 2005. This progression illustrates his professional journey through various media markets before establishing a presence in the nation’s capital. Currently, he serves as the Chief Political Correspondent for the Sinclair Broadcast Group. He initially gained prominence as a political reporter during his tenure with WJLA-ABC7 News in Washington, D.C.
In the 2012 presidential campaign, he distinguished himself as the only local television reporter in Washington to secure multiple interviews with President Obama. One of these interviews featured President Obama’s initial extensive and critical comments on Mitt Romney and his time at Bain Capital. Additionally, he also conducted another exclusive one-on-one with President Obama on election day. During the 2012 campaign, he anchored POLITICO TV on C-SPAN and played a role in developing new leads in the Herman Cain sex scandal stories, even becoming the target of Cain’s now-infamous “Excuse me!” rant.
In 2013, his work played a significant part in WJLA’s composite entry, which won the USC Annenberg Walter Cronkite Award for excellence in television political journalism.
