Roxanne Vargas is an American three-time Emmy award-winning anchor working for NBC6 News. She serves as the co-anchor of the 12 pm and 4 pm newscast alongside Sheli Muñiz. She joined the NBC6 News team in 2003.

Vargas has worked on-air for more than 10 years and during this time, she has covered health, consumer, and entertainment reports. She has also covered breaking news both locally and nationally. In addition to Roxanne’s work at NBC6, she has also worked for Telemundo 51 where she reported in Spanish. Roxanne also previously served as a 5 am and 6 am anchor on NBC6 Today and she was the original host of NBC6 in the Mix. In addition, Roxanne was voted for in 2012 by the Miami New Times as “Best TV Host” and in 2018, as the “Best TV News Anchor.”
Furthermore, during the 2018 Miami Beach Pride Parade, Vargas served as Ally Grand Marshal, and for her efforts, she received the key to the City of Miami Beach. She has also received three Flamingo Awards and the Aqua Foundation for Women and SAVE recognized her. In addition, Roxanne joined an elite group of women in 2014, including; Demi Moore, Brooke Shields, and Maria Shriver. While in the Maria Shriver group, she got inducted into fashion designer Donna Karan’s “Women Who Inspire” Program. In addition, Vargas has also been honored by the Girls Scouts of Southeast Florida with a community leadership award, and she served on the board of the Girl Scouts of Tropical Florida.
South Florida is Roxanne’s native home and she attended Florida International University where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism. She is also a published author who co-wrote two books, 100 Things to Do in Miami Before You Die and its second edition.
