Ronnie Duncan Biography
Ronnie Duncan is an American sports anchor and reporter working for CBS Detroit as the weekly sports anchor and reporter. He joined the CBS Detroit team in August 202, after previously working for Fox Corporation.
Ronnie Duncan Career
Before joining CBS in Detroit, Duncan worked for WTXF FOX 29 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where he served as a sports anchor and reporter. He started his broadcasting career at the Veterans Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland in 1978. While he was at Veterans Hospital, he volunteered for over 30,000 hours thus developing his on-air skills. In addition, Duncan then secured a job at Morgan State University’s radio station, WEAA-FM where he did sports.
Ronnie’s television break came in 1983 when he joined WJZ-TV in Baltimore where he served as a sports reporter and weekend sports anchor. Ever since, he has worked in many television stations in Indiana, Ohio, Arizona, Columbus, Cleaveland Ohio, and Indianapolis. Furthermore, for Duncan’s outstanding work in both news reporting and sports, he has received recognition with six Emmy nominations. The Alabama Broadcasters Association awarded him the Sportscaster of the Year award in 2012.
In addition, he has served as a ringside reporter, blow-by-blow commentator, and ring announcer while working on CBS Sports Network, Fite TV, and ESPN. Not long ago, he hosted an event at the historic Bukom Stadium in Ghana, Africa. In 2014, he shifted from sports and took up a job at WNEM (CBS) in Flint and Saginaw where he served as a news anchor. Furthermore, he led the station in covering the infamous Flint water crisis. He also got an exclusive interview with former Gov. Rick Snyder at his apartment.
He was awarded the Associated Press award for his outstanding coverage of breaking news while working at WNEM. Over the years, Ronnie has been giving back to the community by doing charity works with the; Veterans Administration, the National Association of Black Journalists, The Muscular Dystrophy Association, the NAACP, The Boys & Girls Club, and the Epilepsy Foundation.
