Robert is a Guam native who relocated to Los Angeles to complete his studies at Pepperdine University before venturing into the news industry. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in telecommunications and business management. Following his graduation, he received an offer to do the weather at KGTV, in San Diego, California. Enrolling in Mississippi State University’s Broadcast Meteorology Program helped him develop a growing passion for the weather and the natural world.

Robert has almost twenty years of experience as a reporter, anchor, and weathercaster. He has covered numerous stories, from triple-digit heat, intense thunderstorms, and flash flooding in Las Vegas to blizzards, single-digit temps, rainstorms after rainstorms in the Pacific Northwest, wildfires, earthquakes, flooding, and mudslides. The most unforgettable incident Robert had while residing in Guam was covering a Super Typhoon that had winds exceeding 150 mph. Throughout the entire island, Robert and his colleagues kept everyone updated for days on end both before and after the hurricane. According to Robert, this event demonstrated the significance of the media in our culture.

In his journalism career journey, Robert has worked in many stations, before he joined Spectrum News 1. He first worked as a general assignment reporter at KTLA, in Greater Los Angeles Area. From there he served the same role in KVBC, an NBC affiliate station in Las Vegas, Nevada Area. After spending one year there he relocated to Seattle, Washington, where he filled in for the chief meteorologist during the nightly newscasts and reported “4-The-Earth” segments for KOMO TV. From 2017 to 2018, Robert worked for KNSD NBC 7, in San Diego, California, and Daytripper Tours, in the Greater San Diego Area. Robert spends his free time outdoors, where he documents as many personal adventures in the areas of travel, self-development, health, wellness, and the environment as he can.
