Rob Stone is an American anchor and host working for FOX Sports as a host for the Saturday pregame show BIG NOON KICKOFF and FOX Sports’ marquee studio coverage of soccer, college basketball and college football. He joined the FOX Sports news team in January 2012, after previously working for ESPN.

Stone graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English from Colgate University in 1991. Here, he made significant contributions as a four-year letterman on the Raiders men’s soccer team. He concluded his collegiate soccer career as the university’s all-time assist leader with 15 assists (currently tied for second). During his senior year, he served as co-captain, earning recognition as the Raiders’ Most Valuable Player and securing a spot on the First Team All-Patriot League in the conference’s inaugural season. Additionally, he was also a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. In 1992, he joined ESPN as a production assistant, contributing to shows such as SportsCenter. The following year, he moved to WFXL-TV in Albany, Georgia, where he spent two years as a sports anchor and later as the sports director. In 1995, he transitioned to WTOG in Tampa, Florida, taking on the role of a weekend sports anchor and sports reporter.
His coverage primarily focused on stories related to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Moreover, he served as an analyst for the Tampa Bay Mutiny soccer team on SportsChannel Florida. After rejoining ESPN in the summer of 1997, he contributed to various ESPN College Football and college basketball telecasts. His versatile role extended to ESPN’s Major League Soccer coverage and MLS Primetime Thursday. He was also part of the broadcasting team covering the 2006 FIFA World Cup and served as one of the commentators for the 2006 World Series of Darts. In 2007, he expanded his presence as a regular contributor to major horse racing events. He provided coverage for prestigious races such as the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness, the Belmont Stakes, the Irish Derby, the Breeders Cup, and other significant horse racing events. He continued his role until leaving the telecasts after the Breeders Cup.
On June 30, 2008, he took on a different role as a guest host on ESPN’s Around the Horn. During this appearance, he substituted for Tony Reali as the host while Reali was getting married. Furthermore, he served as one of the network’s primary college football sideline reporters, showcasing his diverse expertise in sports broadcasting. He assumed the role of the lead play-by-play announcer for PBA bowling telecasts on ESPN before the 2007–08 Denny’s PBA Tour, succeeding Dave Ryan. He continued in this position for PBA telecasts until the conclusion of 2011. Subsequently, he voluntarily left to join Fox Sports. Veteran announcer Gary Thorne replaced him for the remaining unrecorded events of the 2011–12 season. During his time as a bowling announcer, he introduced the catchphrase “hambone!” In January 2012, he departed from ESPN and assumed the role of the lead studio host for Fox soccer broadcasts.
He took charge of hosting all soccer programs and events for Fox Sports Media Group (FSMG) stations, including Fox Sports and FX. Later on, he expanded his role to become the studio host for Fox college football and basketball broadcasts. Additionally, he served as a substitute host for Fox’s coverage of Major League Baseball. In August 2018, the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) announced that he would return to cover professional bowling events as TV coverage transitioned from ESPN to Fox Sports for the 2019 season. A notable and unexpected moment occurred on August 23, 2019, when he briefly became the WWE 24/7 Champion. He pinned R-Truth on the set of the Fox College Football pregame show, securing the title. However, he promptly lost the championship to Elias just seconds later. This made him the first non-WWE performer to win a title in the WWE.
