Rob Mayeda Biography
Rob Mayeda is an American meteorologist and reporter working for KNTV as a meteorologist anchor providing weekend weather forecasts and contributing to weekday weather coverage. He joined the KNTV news team in 2003, after previously working for KIRO-CBS.

Mayeda’s career in broadcast news began off camera as an ABC News production associate and assisted in the local production of “20/20” and “Primetime Live” in June 1994. He also filed and logged the network news magazines in the videotape library. Later on, he joined the local news assignment desk at KNBC in Burbank where he scanned police and fire radio for breaking news and dispatched camera crews to news special projects also seen on CNBC. In July 1998 he joined the NBC KCRA news team. Here, he anchored and reported for Perceptions, and Asian American issues program, reported live for weather and environmental stories before being hired by CBS in Seattle in December 2001.
Mayeda is also an active member of the American Meteorological Society and earned the AMS Television Seal of Approval following the completion of a Master of Science degree in Geosciences (Meteorology/Geology/Hydrology) from Mississippi State University which also named him among the Top 100 outstanding alumni in 2016.
While not on air, Mayeda is a guest lecturer for San Jose State Meteorology guiding the department’s broadcast meteorology minor program with meteorology-related courses. He was awarded the “Top Media Ally” award at the annual Purple Ribbon Gala in 2015.
