Rich Walsh Biography
Rich Walsh is an American sports anchor working for KDKA as a weekend sports anchor. He joined the KDKA news team in 2014.
In addition to working for KDKA, Walsh also appears on KDKA-FM, 93.7 “The Fan.” Prior to joining the KDKA sports team, Walsh worked for the Pittsburgh Penguins as the primary studio and game day intermission host. He also worked for ROOT Sports Pittsburgh as a sideline host and reporter. Walsh also makes appearances on KDKA-FM, 93.7 “The Fan.” Before accepting the job at KDKA. Walsh has spent the last 12 years working in Pittsburgh as a Sports Anchor/Host/Reporter. Rich has 13 years of sports anchoring and reporting experience. Rich also worked at Fox Sports Net Pittsburgh and worked as an anchor at WTRF-TV in Wheeling, West Virginia.
Over the years, Walsh has had the privealage to cover; two Stanley Cup Championships, an MLB All-Star game, two Winter Classics, The Final Four, four Super Bowls, and two U.S. Opens. In addition, Rich has also covered many memorable events such as Sidney Crosby’s first game in the NHL. On a daily basis, Rich is in the Penguins, Steelers, and Pirates locker rooms. Furthermore, he attended the University of Pittsburgh and he is a former captain of Pitt’s track and cross country teams.
In addition, he is a board member on a number of organisatins such as; University of Pittsburgh Varsity Athletics and the Leukemia and Lymphoma society. For Walsh’s outstanding journalism career and charity work, he has won many awards. In memory of his father Tom, who passed away in 2009, from Leukemia, Walshraised over $200,000. His received recorgnition as Pittsburgh’s 40 under 40 for his efforts. During his spare time, he enjoys golfing, running, and spending ample time with his family.
