Rich Luterman is an American meteorologist working at FOX 2 as the chief meteorologist and can be seen on weeknights during the 5 p.m., 6 p.m., 10 p.m., and 11 p.m. newscasts. He joined the FOX 2 team in December 2013 after previously working for WWL-TV for 4 years.
Pittsburgh is Luterman’s native home and he attended Penn State University where he graduated in 1988, with a Bachelor of Science degree in meteorology. Luterman was commissioned a second lieutenant through the U.S. Air Force ROTC. He also served on active duty as a weather officer for a period of four-and-a-half years. During Operation Desert Storm in Southwest Asia, Rich served as a weather detachment commander for six months in the year 1991.
After Rich’s time in the Air Force, he relocated to Utica, New York where he worked for WKTV as a chief meteorologist. In addition, he received the American Meteorological Society (AMS) Seal of Approval in 1994. In addition, he is actively involved in the community by sharing his knowledge with young students interested in the weather. Furthermore, Luterman was diagnosed with diabetes in 2012, thus he works with the American Diabetes Association to raise awareness. Across Southeast Michigan, Rich workers with a number of Veteran groups.
