Ray Petelin Biography
Ray Petelin is an American meteorologist working for KDKA News as a weekday and weekend meteorologist. He joined the KDKA weather team in October 2018, after previously working for WTAE.
Petelin is familiar with the weather in Western Pennsylvania and Pittsburgh. Since 2011, he has served as a forecaster in Pittsburgh and since January 2003, in Western Pennsylvania. Over the years, Ray has forecasted weather in Erie, Pennsylvania, and Parkersburg, West Virginia, and he is well equipped with the Pittsburgh region’s lake effect snow and micro-climates.
In addition, Petelin has seals of approval from the National Weather Association and the American Meteorological Society. Ray attended Mississippi State University where he graduated with a certificate in broadcast meteorology. Furthermore, he also studied at The University of Akron where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in communications and marketing. After having graduated, he has worked at stations such as; WFMJ-TV, WKYC-TV, WTAP-TV where he was a weather anchor and news anchor, WSEE-TV where he was a meteorologist, One Caribbean Weather, and WTAE.
During Petelin’s spare time, he enjoys exploring different parks, traveling to places in Western Pennsylvania, and spending as much time as he can with his wife and daughter.
