Pei-Sze Cheng Biography
Pei-Sze Cheng is an American Emmy award-winning reporter working for NBC 4 as an investigative reporter. She joined the NBC 4 news team in March 2005, after previously working for WFSB TV.
Suffolk County is Cheng’s native home and she attended Columbia University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. Pei-Sze started her journalism career at News 12 Connecticut where she served as a reporter for the 5 pm and 10 pm newscasts. Later on, she relocated to Hartford where she worked for WFSB-TV as the New Haven bureau reporter and fill-in anchor. In addition, she has covered a number of high-profile stories such as; the trial of former Governor John Rowland, the bombing of the Yale Law School, the delayed execution of convicted serial killer Michael Ross, and the 2003 blackout.
Following major terrorist attacks in European cities, Cheng traveled to Nice, France, and Brussels, Belgium. Pei-Sze has also traveled to Northern Virginia and Washington D.C. as part of NBC 4’s live coverage of the shooting of House Majority Whip Steve Scalise. For her reporting on the COVID-19 pandemic, the NBC 4 New York team was honored with the prestigious Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Award in January 2021.
In addition, before Cheng joined the I-Team in 2013, she served as a general assignment reporter at NBC 4 for over 8 years. During that time, she covered big stories including; the Sean Bell shooting, the midtown steam explosion, Superstorm Sandy, and the 2005 transit strike. Furthermore, Cheng is actively involved in the community and she is a member of the Asian American Journalists Association
