Hancocks is an award-winning CNN foreign correspondent who works out of the network’s office in Abu Dhabi. Before this, Hancocks was a China correspondent for CNN. He was based in Seoul and covered big events in China, Korea, and the surrounding area. For more than ten years, Hancocks has been in charge of the network’s coverage of the Korean peninsula. This includes North Korea’s nuclear and missile tests, the Pyeongchang Olympics, and the meetings between Trump and Kim and between the two Koreas.
Additionally, she was in charge of CNN’s coverage of Kim Jong Il’s death, Kim Jong Un’s rise to power, and the situation of American citizens being held in the country. Hancocks always get special access for her work. For example, she talked to a former North Korean minister who defected to Seoul, wrote about North Korea’s killing weapons, and wrote about the story of nine young defectors who were sent back to North Korea.

She also covered the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah in 2006, for which her team got the Ed Murrow Award. She was also on the team that won the DuPont-Columbia Award for their coverage of the 2004 tsunami from Sri Lanka.
Since 1997, Hancocks has worked for CNN as a production helper. She got her Bachelor of Arts in French and Italian from the University of Durham. Moreover, she got her postgraduate degree in broadcast news from the University of Wales, Cardiff, before she joined CNN.
