Nyesha Arrington is an American chef, television personality, and restaurateur. She is best known for being a contestant on the ninth season of Top Chef: Texas. She has also been a mentor and judge on Fox’s Next Level Chef.
Nyesha obtained a mentorship to advance her study in the area after graduating from the esteemed Art Institute of California—Los Angeles’ Culinary School in 2001. Initially, the owner of Santa Monica, California’s highly regarded 2-star Michelin-rated Melisse restaurant, Josiah Citrin, hired her as a saucier at Melisse. Later, she opened two more of Citrin’s eateries. Arrington competed in season nine of Top Chef: Texas in 2011. She was listed as one of the “30 Under 30” by Zagat in 2012. She began her career as an apprentice to chef Josiah Citrin at Mélisse and later worked as executive chef at Santa Monica, California’s Wilshire Restaurant.
In 2015, Arrington received the Chef of the Year award from Eater LA. From 2016 to 2017, Arrington worked as a chef and a partner at Leona in Los Angeles, California’s Venice area. In Santa Monica, California, she founded Native and served as partner and chef there from 2017 until 2019. Arrington served as a coach and judge on Fox’s television series Next Level Chef, which debuted in January 2022. Four further seasons of the show have been renewed. Nyesha had a keen eye for detail and wanted to pursue everything artistic before deciding to become a chef. She took classes in pointillism, sculpture, watercolor, and photography. During her spare time, Nyesha enjoys being outside. She is a passionate snowboarder, lounging on the beach, and appreciating art when she’s not crafting culinary wonders. Cooking, nevertheless, will always remain her greatest love.
