Nicole Crites Biography
Nicole Crites is an American three-time Emmy-winning anchor working for 3TV as weekday noon and evening anchor from 4 pm to 6:30 pm. She joined the Arizona Family in December 2004, after previously working for KREM 2.
Crites has been telling stories about Valley newsmakers for almost 20 years, and in addition to her role at CBS5 Arizona, she also produces in-depth features and investigations to bring context and perspective to concerns and trends in the community and world. After the tragic Tucson shooting and assassination attempt of then-Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, Nicole won an Emmy for her field anchoring of the event. In addition, she has also won another Emmy for her “Keeping the Promise” series which was about military struggles and success profiles. Her third Emmy award was presented to her for her breaking news stories.
Furthermore, Nicole is an active board member of the nonprofit Military Assistance Mission which offers support to Arizona military families. Arizona is Nicole’s native home and she was brought up in a family of eight she attended the University of Arizona where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in journalism in 2000. In addition, She secured her first job on television as an intern and worked her way up the ladder to a part-time reporter and assignment editor, listening to scanners and coordinating crews to cover breaking news while working for KVOA in Tucson.
After graduating, Nicole relocated to Spokane, Washington where she worked for KREM-2 News as an anchor and reporter. During Crites’ free time, she enjoys reading a book, volunteering in community service, taking RV road trips to explore our local lakes, forests, and trails together with her family, and crafting things such as baby blankets.
