Nick King Biography
Nick King is an American sports anchor and reporter working for 3TV as a weekly sports anchor and reporter. He joined Arizona’s Family in September 2019, after previously working for KMPH in Fresno, California.
In 2008, he joined the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalsim and mass communication, and electronic communication in 2010. During his childhood days, he would announce backyard games of basketball, golf, football, and basketball while playing with and against his brothers. In addition, while King was in the 5th grade, he made up his mind that he would be a sports broadcast when he grows up.
For Nick’s sports anchoring and reporting he won an Emmy award and a pair of Emmys for stories known as The Seated Golfer, which was about a Valley veteran who found new life on the golf course more than three decades after a wartime injury left him unable to walk. The other story for which he won an Emmy was 100 Mile Runner, about a 19-year-old who was diagnosed with autism running a 100-mile race.
In addition, other memorable stories that Nick enjoyed shedding light on included; the Perry high football team’s support towards their freshman team manager who was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder called MPS, and the basketball-crazy town of Whiteriver, Arizona, rallying together after a season on the court was lost due to the COVID-19 pandemic. During his leisure time, he enjoys golfing, road-tripping around the Grand Canyon state, reading, hiking, cooking, nature photography, trail running, and playing basketball.
