Nick Foley Cancer | Is Nick Foley still with WHIO TV?

On November 13th, Foley returned to the anchor desk after going through seven months of treatment for Multiple Myeloma, a cancer of the plasma cells that typically affects the bones and immune system. In April 2023, Foley announced his cancer diagnosis and immediately began radiation and chemotherapy, which occasionally forced him off the air. The treatment continued until July 2023, when doctors told Foley the treatment was making great progress and that they were working toward some sort of remission.

In August and September, Foley and his wife, Lisa made the decision to continue doing everything we could to extend my remission by electing to undergo a stem cell transplant. According to the most recent statistics, patients who undergo stem cell transplants after treatment typically add several years to remission before the first setback by an average of about 5 to 6 years. He then began making weekly trips to Columbus beginning in May for his treatment.

Foley received a “autologous” transplant, which is a process in which the patient’s own cells are extracted beforehand and subsequently reintroduced into their body. In order to restore his strength and return to the WHIO-TV broadcast, Foley has been recovering at home for the last few weeks.
