Nic Merianos Biography
Nic Merianos is an American Chief Meteorologist working for CBS 13 as an evening meteorologist at 4, 5, 6, 10 & 11 pm newscasts. He joined the CBS 13 news team in 2022, after previously working for Bay News 9.
Merianos is a proud graduate of Lyndon State College, where he earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Atmospheric Sciences and Meteorology and is certified through the American Meteorological Society. Since he was a small child, he has always had a fascination for weather, ignited by extreme weather and strong winter storms. Later on, Merianos graduated from Northern Vermont University with a degree in atmospheric science.
Merianos worked as a meteorologist for three years at Bay News 9, in Tampa, Florida, before joining CBS 13. There, he was proud to provide people with the weather. Merianos received four regional prizes for his coverage of severe weather while he was in Tampa. Before that, Nic worked as a weather forecaster at WeatherNation, in Denver, Colorado, as well as the Northeast.
Nic has a distinct past that extends beyond the climate. He trained as a firefighter for six years in the Northeast and is certified in both fighting wildland fires and fighting conventional fires. Because of this experience, Merianos is in a unique position to discuss the science underlying our wildfires with intelligence. In addition, Nic is a licensed single-engine aircraft pilot. He enjoys biking, kayaking, hiking flying around, and taking in all the beauties that our magnificent neighborhood has to offer while he’s not at work.
