Miranda Parnell is an American anchor and reporter working for 10 Tampa Bay as an evening anchor and reporter on weeknights at 11 p.m. She joined the 10 Tampa Bay News Team in June 2021.
Miranda Parnell Career
Parnell received her bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of South Carolina. After her graduation, Parnell got her first employment as a reporter at WRDW News 12 in Augusta, Georgia. Parnell relocated to Flint, Michigan in 2015 in order to work as a reporter for WEYI/WSMH. Moreover, she covered environmental issues, scandalous local politics, and the Flint water crisis extensively while she was there. Parnell’s reporting on invasive animals harming local habitats earned her a NATAS Emmy. Upon witnessing an abundance of snowfall, she proceeded to CW33 located near Dallas, Texas. Parnell started an interactive web series that covered human interest and unusual news at CW33.
After passing the FAA Part 107 exam in 2017, she was able to obtain her drone pilot certification. When the time came in 2018 for her to return to the Southeast, she relocated to her hometown and started working as the weekend morning anchor at WIS-TV 10. Parnell covered a wide range of topics for WIS, including COVID-19 and the closing of illicit strip clubs. It wasn’t all bad news, either. Through Be The Match, she was able to provide bone marrow in 2019 to a 2-year-old who had a rare kind of bone cancer.
They were able to emphasize the significance of growing the bone marrow registry in order to contribute to lifesaving by recording that procedure. Parnell had the opportunity to see and document the coming together of the community while she was in South Carolina. People flocked to support those small businesses during an extremely difficult year after Parnell introduced a program called Carolina Cookin’ to highlight the greatest local food at the height of the pandemic
