Mike Woods Biography
Mike Woods is an American meteorologist working for FOX 5 as a weekday morning meteorologist on Good Day which airs from 4:30 am – 10 am. He joined the FOX 5 news team in June 2001, as the weekend meteorologist and “Good Day New York.”

Sacramento, California is Woods’ native home. He attended the University of California where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Rhetoric and Communications, with an emphasis on atmospheric science. Since 1993, he has resided in a variety of cities around the country. Mike secured his first on-air job in Eastern North Carolina, where he served as a morning and noon weather anchor from 1993 to 1996. In addition, while Mike was in North Carolina, he covered a number of hurricanes inclusive of the Fran in 1996, and Bertha. Over the years, Woods has covered many major weather events in the tri-state area, such as; hurricanes, blizzards, Nor’ Easters, and heatwaves. Not long ago, he spent almost 72 hours on air while covering Hurricane Irene.
Prior to relocating to New York, Woods forecasted in the deserts of Phoenix from 1996 to 2001. Over the years he has earned Emmy nominations for best weather forecast by the NATAS and he is an AMS seal holder. The Black Media Legends Award was presented to Mike in 2009, by McDonald’s. In addition, Woods has been involved with a number of charitable works, and not long ago, he raised more than $10,000 for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. She raised the money through a program known as Team in Training, which is devoted to training; triathletes, runners, hikers, walkers, and cyclists to raise money for cancer patients and their loved ones.
In addition, Woods is a Patron of the Fox News Apprentice Program. He is also an active supporter and member of 100 Black Men Inc of New York and its Eagle Academy; Housing Works, Big Brothers Big Sisters, The Ronald McDonald House, and AYUDA for the Arts. Mike is an accomplished triathlete and during his free time, he enjoys skiing, working out, and any activity involving physical fitness. He was featured in Muscle and Fitness magazine in the “Real People” column.
