Mike Taylor Biography
Mike Taylor is an American meteorologist who is currently working at WXYZ. He joined the 7 Action News and the 7 First Alert Weather Team in December 2018. In addition, he previously worked at ABC 2 in Baltimore and the CBS affiliate in Champaign, Illinois, WCIA-TV where he also served as a meteorologist
While he resided and worked in Central Illinois, he was on air when a number of tornadoes cut through the state during the November 17th, 2013 Tornado Outbreak. Alongside his chief and morning meteorologists, they worked for four consecutive hours while they got to the latest warnings and tornado reports to the public. Furthermore, no life was lost during the outbreak in Mike’s viewing area, and he believes it was due to the gutsy call for the weather team to cut into an NFL game.
He attended Mississippi State University where he proudly graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Meteorology. Additionally, he intends to continue his education in pursuit of a master’s degree in Atmospheric Sciences prior to holding the National Weather Association’s Seal of Approval. After he had completed his education, he interned with WXYZ- TV in Detroit, Michigan where he worked alongside Chief Meteorologist Dave Rexroth. Furthermore, he also worked at WBKB-TV in Alpena, Michigan where he served as the chief meteorologist and while he was there, he won a weathercaster of the year award.
During his downtime, he enjoys retro video games, trying new beers watching movies, spending time outdoors, and working on his car (Volvo S60R). He is also a huge sports fan and enjoys working out and watching; Baseball, Football, and Basketball
