Mike Prangley Biography
Mike Prangley is an American meteorologist working for 10 Tampa Bay as an evening meteorologist. He joined the 10 Tampa Bay news team in May 2023, after previously working for TEGNA.
Prangley studied meteorology at Lyndon State College and received my weather certificate and NWA Seal from Mississippi State. He also received a degree in broadcast journalism from the University of North Florida. Prangley was born in Washington, D.C., and at the age of four, he developed an interest in the weather. He enjoyed making his own weather maps and checking out piles of library books on various types of weather. He has been a TV meteorologist for more than 25 years because of his enduring passion for the weather. After relocating to Duluth, Minnesota, from Gainesville, Florida, Prangley shared his passion for science with the people there when the state record low dropped to -60.
After that, Prangley refueled at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and weathered hurricanes while overseeing the Grand Strand. Subsequently, Prangley rose to the position of chief meteorologist in Lafayette, Indiana, where he acquired invaluable expertise reporting on all types of weather, including numerous tornadoes. In order to be nearer to family, Prangley was able to return to Florida in 2010. He worked as a meteorologist in Jacksonville, Florida, and provided the most precise forecasts available, which helped keep the locals safe throughout severe weather and storms. During his spare time, Prangley enjoys playing pickleball and tennis. Furthermore, he has run 15 marathons, including finishing the Boston Marathon in April 2022.
