Mike Pereira is an American former American football official and later vice president of officiating for the National Football League (NFL). Currently, he is the head of officiating for the United States Football League (USFL). He works as an NFL and college football rules analyst for Fox Sports, for which he has gained the nickname “Mikey Rule Books”. He joined the Fox Sports team in June 2010.

Pereira officiated college football games for 14 years prior to joining the NFL. He worked for nine years in the Big West Conference (1982–90) and five years in the Western Athletic Conference (1991–95). He advanced to the NFL, serving as a side judge on referee Mike Carey’s officiating crew for two seasons (1996 and 1997). Terry McAulay, a three-time Super Bowl referee, wore uniform number 77, which Terry Killens currently wears. Pereira oversaw the Western Athletic Conference’s officials while employed by the NFL.

Pereira received a promotion to NFL supervisor of officiating in 1998. Following Jerry Seeman as Director of Officiating in 2001, Pereira was elevated to Vice President of Officiating in 2004. Pereira left the NFL following the 2009 campaign. Pereira served as the Pac-10’s temporary officiating coordinator from February to June 2011, during which time she was in charge of implementing modifications to the conference’s officiating program. Tony Corrente, his successor, kept Pereira as a consultant on his staff during the 2011–12 Pac-12 football season. The Alliance of American Football ran from February to April of 2019 with Pereira serving as an officiating consultant. In addition, Pereira serves as the USFL’s Head of Officiating (2022).
