Mike Caplan Biography
Mike Caplan is an American meteorologist working for FOX 32 as a weekday morning meteorologist on Good Day Chicago. He joined the FOX 32 Chicago team in December 2015.
The northern suburbs is where Mike was born and brought up and he has called Chicago his home for the better part of his life. He attended Warren Township High School in Gurnee where he graduated proudly and later joined the College of Lake County where he earned an Associate’s Degree. In addition, Caplan also attended Illinois State University where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communications.
After completing his education, Mike secure his first job at WCIA in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois where he served as a news reporter before later being promoted to serving as the weekend and noon weather anchor. In addition, he also served as the co-host of WCIA’s PM Magazine show, and while serving as host, he secured a one-on-one interview with President Ronald Reagan at the White House.
Later on, Mike relocated to Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina where he worked for WTVD in 1987, while serving as the chief weather anchor. After working at the station for two years, he was chosen as the co-anchor of the station’s early evening newscast in addition to his weather duties. While he was at the station, he covered everything from hurricanes, tornadoes, and snowstorms. Furthermore, Caplan relocated back to Chicago in 1984, to work for WLS-TV as the weekday 4 pm meteorologist.
He attended Mississippi State University where he earned a Degree in meteorology. Whenever Caplan is not forecasting the weather, he is a photographer, and together with his wife, they own a photographic and web design business in the northern suburbs.
