Esteban graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism. Later she began her professional career at WTOV-TV, Steubenville, Ohio Area as a reporter and anchor in May 1989. Then moved on to be a reporter at WPXI-TV Greater Pittsburgh Area where she worked with the team for two years and six months. Prior to coming to KOMO TV, she worked as a reporter and anchor at ABC15 Arizona.

Viewer donations spurred by the reports contributed to funding reconstructive surgery for O’Neal. Her reporting revealed that small magnets inside the plastic building pieces could easily detach, posing a risk of ingestion or aspiration by young children.
This inquiry began when she reported on the tragic case of a 20-month-old toddler in Redmond who died after swallowing magnets, leading to a twist in his small intestine and creating a blockage. In 2008, she received the prestigious Regional Edward R. Murrow Award for her investigation into the potential privacy concerns associated with turned-off cell phones being used as listening devices. Her report demonstrated how software could exploit a cell phone’s capabilities to eavesdrop on conversations in its vicinity. Additionally, she won the Regional Emmy for Best Reporter in both 2008 and 2010. Her Problem Solver Reports on James O’Neal, “The Man with Half a Face,” earned her two Emmys.
