Melissa Barrington Biography

Melissa Barrington is an American meteorologist who is currently working at WDTN. She serves as the weekend morning meteorologist at the station. In addition, she joined Storm Team 2 in 2010.

Melissa Barrington Career

She started her career in broadcast meteorology in 1993 while working at ABC during the Great Flood. She later joined CBS in Scranton, Pennsylvania in the year 1994. Later on, in 1995, she joined FOX Indianapolis. In the year 1997, she worked at NBC Columbus, Ohio. In addition from 2004 to the year 2005, she served worked at The Weather Channel where she served as an on-camera meteorologist.

Furthermore, in 2001, during the International Weather Festival in Paris, France she was awarded America’s Award for TV Weather. Her long career in weather across the country has enabled her to become a seasoned veteran of many different types of weather from floods like the Great Flood of 1993 to tornadoes to covering hurricanes like France, Ivan, and Jeanne in 2004 for The Weather Channel.

In addition, she attended Northern Illinois University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology. Since 1993, she has held the American Meteorological Society and National Weather Association Seal of Approval and has been active in climate and weather.

Her love for weather began when she was a teenager and before she began dealing with weather, she served as an astronaut for NASA. During her downtime, she loves; sewing, reading, cooking, and baking. Additionally, she has also been active in other areas such as being a Girl Scout leader and a former PTO president.
