Melanie Lawson Biography
Melanie Lawson is an American anchor and reporter who is currently working at ABC13 Houston. She served as the co-anchor of Live at 5 and Channel 13’s midday show, Eyewitness News at 11 am. In addition, when she joined the ABC13 Houston team, she served as a full-time general assignments reporter.
Furthermore, she also served as the host of a weekly Community Affairs program called “Crossroads” which focuses on issues and events around our city.

Lawson is also a member of the Texas Lone Star Chapter of Emmys and Women in Film and Television. The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation honored her as the YWCA’s “Outstanding Women of the Year.” Furthermore, the Anti-Defamation League awarded her with the Ben and Julie Rogers Ecumenism Award.
In addition, she attended Princeton University where she graduated with an undergraduate degree in Politics. She also attended Columbia University where she graduated with a joint degree in Law and Journalism. Furthermore, she did work at a Wall Street law firm for three years before she returned to Houston.
