Melanie Alnwick is an American Emmy award-winning anchor and reporter who is currently working at FOX 5 Washington D.C. She serves as the morning co-anchor of the 4:25-6 am, and Good Day DC at 9 am at the station.
Melanie Alnwick Career
While working at FOX 5, she has covered almost every assignment including serving as a money and consumer reporter/anchor, investigative reporter, and nightside reporter. Whenever an opportunity comes she also does the early morning shift. Just at the age of 8, she began her first newspaper which was a handwritten rag on notebook paper, complete with her own illustrations of neighborhood happenings.
In addition, she attended the University of Florida and James Madison University. Later on, she was able to secure her first job at WUSA-9 in Washington DC where she served as the news director’s secretary. While she served at the position, she was able to learn from journalists who were at the top of their game.
Furthermore, she has also done weather and her first on-air job was in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. While she resided in Raleigh, North Carolina, and worked at NBC-17, she got to witness one of the last live tobacco auctions in the state, found out what a hog waste lagoon is, and learned how to shoot a gun.
In addition, she also did engineer a fantastic trip with the U.S. Air Force to Germany, Albania, Bosnia, and Italy during the Kosovo conflict. Furthermore, she was honored to fly in the cockpit of a C-17 across the Atlantic. While working at FOX 5, she won awards for my series of investigative reports on Spring Valley with a National Emmy. She volunteers at local hospitals with Musicians on Call prior to teaching elementary school students art history.
