Megan O’Rourke is an American Edward R. Murrow, and Emmy award-winning anchor working for FOX19 WXIX as an evening anchor at 3 p.m. news alongside Amber Jayanth and the 5 p.m. news alongside Tricia Macke. She rejoined the FOX19 news team in 2023, after previously working for WKEF.
O’Rourke was born in Ohio and grew up in Greene County. After completing her studies at Xenia High School, O’Rourke obtained her degree from Miami University. After college, she joined KIDK in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where she served as a weekend news anchor and reporter. She then took off and returned home to Dayton to work for WDTN as an anchor and reporter from 2005 until 2014.
It was in 2014 that she first joined FOX19 WXIX until 2016. She covered the 10 p.m. news in her second year and the morning show in 2014 during her two-year duration. Megan worked as “the lead reporter” at night and was known for focusing on breaking news and hard news. Moreover, she worked together with photographer Mike Buckingham in covering Pope Francis’ 2015 visit to Washington, D.C., which according to her is one of her favorite moments in her career. During her seven-year tenure as an anchor at WKEF/WRGT (ABC/Fox affiliate) in Dayton, Megan did numerous television news broadcasts and conducted exclusive interviews.
Megan rejoined WXIX on April 5th, 2023 as a co-anchor of the 3 p.m. news with Amber Jayanth and the 5 p.m. with Tricia Macke. In 2019, she covered the Oregon District mass shooting and the deadly Memorial Day tornadoes in Dayton. For her work, Megan has earned the Associated Press, Society of Professional Journalists, Edward R. Murrow, and Emmy awards. During her spare time, she loves spending time with her family.
