Matt Meister is an American meteorologist working for FOX21 as a chief meteorologist. He joined the FOX21 news team in May 2019, after previously working for KRDO NewsChannel 13.
Educationally, Meister holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology with a minor in Mathematics from Metro State in Denver. He began his career as the weekend meteorologist at KGWN-TV in Cheyenne, Wyoming, before joining KRDO NewsChannel 13 in Colorado Springs in September 2001. Over the years, he climbed the ranks from weekend meteorologist to weekday evening meteorologist and eventually became the chief meteorologist. In October 2005, he became the first meteorologist in southern Colorado to achieve recognition as a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist by the American Meteorological Society. In 2014, he transitioned from television to join School District 49 as the director of communications. In this role, he played a key part in marketing, communication, public relations, and media relations efforts, implementing a transparent, two-way communication strategy.
Under his leadership, the District 49 communications department received numerous awards from the Colorado School Public Relations Association, including two Medallion Awards for overall excellence. He brings a wealth of experience in weather forecasting, particularly in Colorado Springs and southern Colorado. His extensive track record includes covering significant events such as the Waldo Canyon and Black Forest fires, post-fire flooding, the Holly tornado, and numerous high plains blizzards. He emphasizes the impact of weather on people, focusing on what it means for those living through it. As an Emmy-nominated meteorologist, he has received several accolades for his weather coverage in southern Colorado, including awards from the Colorado Broadcasters Association and the Associated Press. His recognition extends to local awards.

Apart from his professional achievements, he enjoys cooking, playing guitar, and engaging in outdoor activities like hunting and skiing. Furthermore, he dedicates his time as an emcee to fundraising events, contributing to the substantial amount of funds raised in southern Colorado since 2001. His professional journey includes working at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) in Boulder, where he authored scientific papers on thunderstorm research. His automated forecasting and tracking system, the NCAR Thunderstorm AutoNowcaster, was utilized during the Summer Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia, and its components are integrated into local National Weather Service offices across the country today.
