Mary Saladna Biography
Mary Saladna is an American anchor and reporter working for WCVB-TV as a general assignment reporter and fill-in anchor. She joined the WCVB-TV team in September 1999, after previously working for WGAL-TV.
Mary Saladna Career
While working at WCVB, Saladna had received many nominations for her anchor and reporting skills including New England Emmy Awards. In 2019, she won an Emmy award for reporting on the Merrimack Valley gas explosions. For her consistent coverage and reporting of the Taunton Rampage story, she won two Emmy awards, and earned the station the Best Newscast award. In addition, Mary has received three Emmy nominations in the Individual Achievement category and won the award in 2001.
The Philadelphia Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences awarded Saladna six Emmy nominations for her reporting and anchoring. Mary has also received a number of Associated Press Awards. Over the years, she has worked at; KDKA-TV, Pittsburgh as a producer, WHAG-TV, Hagerstown, Maryland as an anchor/ reporter, WJAC-TV, Johnstown, Pennisvalia as an anchor and reporter, and as executive producer, creator, and host of Pulse, an award-winning health care issues magazine.
Prior to joining Channel 5 in September 1999, Saladna worked at WGAL-TV where she served as the co-anchor of the 5:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. weekday newscasts. Over the years, Mary has been volunteering her time in support of; the Jeff Coombs Foundation, the American Heart Association, the Ellie Fund, the Mass 9/11 Fund, ALS One, Home Base – a Red Sox Foundation, and Massachusetts General Hospital Program.
In previous years Mary volunteered at United Cerebral Palsy, children’s safety groups, the Children’s Miracle Network, MADD/SADD, Special Olympics, and Easter Seals. She also advocates for CPR training, voting, AIDS awareness, and organ donation. Furthermore, Mary attended Pennsylvania State University where she majored in marketing. She also attended the University of Exeter in England where she she studied international business and politics.
