Mary Kay Kleist is an American Emmy-Award Winning meteorologist working for CBS2 Chicago as a meteorologist CBS News Chicago weeknights at 5 p.m. She joined the CBS2 news team in 2002, after previously working for WXYZ (ABC).
Kleist attended the University of Central Florida and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Radio and Television in 1992. Later on, she graduated from the Broadcast Meteorology Program at Mississippi State University in 1997.
Soon after graduating, she began her professional career with WJCL-TV in Savannah, Georgia from 1992- 19994, as a general assignment reporter, weekend weather reporter, news anchor, photographer, editor, as well as anchor of the local edition of CNN Headline News. She then worked in Tampa, Florida for four years, as the meteorologist at WFLA (NBC).
In 1999 she joined WXYZ (ABC) Detroit, as a meteorologist and worked there for two years before joining CBS2 Chicago. Since joining the team, she became a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (2007), several local Emmy Awards an AMS Seal of Approval, and an NWA Broadcasting Seal of Approval.
