Lucy Bustamante is an American news anchor and reporter working for NBC10 as an evening anchor and reporter at 5 p.m. and as a breaking news anchor for Telemundo62. She joined the NBC10 news team in 2018, after previously working for WVEC-TV.

Lucy graduated from Loyola University with a bachelor’s degree in communication. Her two areas of passion are helping military families and the Hispanic/Latinx community. She has affiliations with the NBC Universal Veterans Network and the Naval Officers Spouses Association. She was the founding president of the Philadelphia chapter of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and served as its former and founding president.

While attending Cabrini High School New Orleans as a teenager, Lucy volunteered at the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart’s nursing facility, the now-closed Cabrini Convent for retired nuns in Radnor Township, Delaware County. In May 2023, she delivered the graduating speech at Cabrini University. Being a first-generation American, she developed translation abilities as a young child that served as the basis for her dynamic work as a bilingual anchor at NBC10 and Telemundo62.

Lucy and partners at NBC News collaborated to establish the “American Vets” reporting series, in which she and other national journalists explore topics affecting veterans both here and overseas. She co-produced and co-hosted American Vets: Beyond the Battlefield, an NBCNewsNow Veterans Day streaming special that focused on the challenges faced by PTSD-affected veterans, in November 2022.

Lucy worked as the weekday morning and noon anchor at 13News Now (WVEC) in Norfolk, Virginia, prior to joining NBC10. She worked as a morning news anchor for La Selecta 103.3, a Spanish-language radio station, at WVXX-FM, every weekday. Before that, she worked for three months straight as an evening anchor for WWL-TV in New Orleans, where she and her colleagues covered the destruction left behind by Hurricane Katrina.

Lucy has won a Telly and four Emmy awards. She received recognition for her role in directing the June 2019 explosion at the Philadelphia Energy Solutions facility in South Philadelphia. In 2011, she won three regional Edward R. Murrow awards for her documentary explaining the Affordable Care Act in Virginia, in addition to multiple Associated Press honors for best anchor. She also won a Peabody Award in 2005 for her coverage of Hurricane Katrina and another in 2004 for breaking news in New Orleans. She also previously worked in other stations over the past years, including, WVUE TV FOX 8 New Orleans, WALA-TV FOX 10, in Mobile, Alabama Area, and WWL-TV.
