Lonnie Quinn is an American meteorologist working for CBS2 as the chief meteorologist seen on weekdays at 5, 6, and 11 p.m. He is also seen as the national weather anchor for “CBS Saturday Morning.” In addition, he joined the WCBS-TV team in 2007.
Prior to joining WCBS-TV in 2007, Quinn worked at WTVJ, in Miami, Florida. She began her career on ABC’s “All My Children,” as an actor. His first newsroom job was in Charlottesville, Virginia where he worked at WVIR where he served as a cameraman for three months before shifting to being a reporter. Not long after, Lonnie served as an anchor and reporter for the weekend weathercaster. In addition, while Lonnie worked in Charlottesville, he covered stories related to the Thomas Jefferson/Sally Hemings controversy.
Later on, he relocated to Miami where he worked as a full-time weather anchor. He became one of Miami’s most popular on-air personalities by 2005, and he led the area on the most active hurricane season in history. He worked alongside Max Mayfield for 5 years at the National Hurricane Center. In addition, Quinn joined the “Hurricane Hunters” in collecting data on a Category 5 hurricane while they flew through the eye of “Isabel” off the coast of North Carolina. Cheshire, Connecticut is Lonnie’s native home and he attended Boston College where he graduated Magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in speech communications.
