Lolita Lopez Biography
Lolita Lopez is an American Emmy award-winning investigative reporter and anchor who is currently working at KNBC. She serves as the anchor of the 11 a.m. 4, 5, 6, and 11 p.m newscasts. In addition, she joined the NBC4 news team in 2011.

In her journalism career, she did cover a wide range of significant stories, including national stories from the Los Angeles Kings Stanley Cup win in 2012 to the Christopher Dorner manhunt. Additionally, she was stationed at Ground Zero in the earlier stages of her career. During that time, she covered the World Trade Center tragedy for 2 weeks and spent many years reporting the effects of that tragedy.
Furthermore, she has served as a journalist for more than twenty years. She also previously worked at WPIX-TV in New York. While at WPIX-TV she was a general assignment reporter, later on, she was promoted to the sports anchor position. In addition, she became the main sports anchor and a field reporter for the NY Mets, working alongside the late great Hall of Fame pitcher Tom Seaver.
For her outstanding work, she has received recognition with a number of industry awards. She received awards such as several Los Angeles area Emmy Awards. She has also won two New York area Emmy Awards one for ‘Best Live Sports Coverage’ and one for ‘Best Sports Feature.’ In addition, New York’s largest Spanish-language daily newspaper, El Diario La Prensa praised her as one of the most outstanding women in the community.
Santurce, Puerto Rico is her birth home but later on, she was brought up in Houston while she was four years old. She attended Harvard University where she graduated proudly in 1998. While she studied at Harvard University, she was part of the women’s volleyball and track teams for four years. Prior to also being co-captain of the volleyball team in her junior and senior years.
During her leisure time, she enjoys spending quality time with family and friends sharing stories with lots of good food, and playing volleyball on any grass or beach court. In addition, she also participates in charitable events that support important causes impacting Southern Californians, including; promoting the importance of youth sports in our communities, and the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk.
