Llarisa Abreu Biography
Llarisa Abreu is an American Emmy award-winning meteorologist working for WTVJ on weekday evenings at 4 pm and 5:30 pm. She joined the NBC6 First Alert Weather team in March of 2023.
Prior to joining the NBC6 weather team, Abreu worked for KYW in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she worked for three years as part of the station’s morning news team. She has also previously worked for WTVJ/NBC6’s sister station KNSD in San Diego, California where she served as a meteorologist for three years. In addition, Llarisa also worked for The AccuWeather Network in State College, Pennsylvania four 4 years.
For Abreu’s coverage of the Lilac Fire in San Diego County, she received an Emmy award in 2017. According to her, finding her authentic voice on air has been her greatest professional achievement. Passaic, New Jersey is where Llarisa was brought up and after a school field trip with her TV production class to 106 & Park, she made the decision to work in television when she was 16 years old. Furthermore, Llarisa attended Barry University in Miami Shores where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications.
Abreu also attended Mississippi State University where she studied geoscience and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. Llarisa began her broadcasting career at WTVJ as an intern. In addition, she is a member of Certified Angels, which is a nonprofit organization that serves children in her hometown. During her spare time, she enjoys painting, dancing, traveling, writing, and listening to hip hop. Abreu is a mother to three plants named Fiddle Leaf Fig, Money, and Fefi.
