Lisa Ling is an American journalist who is currently working at CNN. She served as the host and executive producer of the CNN Original Series, This is Life with Lisa Ling which airs on Sundays at 10 pm. Furthermore, she also serves as host of the CNN Digital series This Is Birth with Lisa Ling.
She works alongside W.Kamau Bell and Bill Weir who is her co-host on the CNN Original Series, This is Life with Lisa Ling. In addition, their series won a Gracie Award in 2017.

Not long ago, she signed an overall deal with WarnerMedia’s upcoming streaming service, HBO Max. The first project greenlit is a travel docuseries, Wedding, Birth, Funeral, which she will executive produce alongside Dan Rather. Previously, she served as a field correspondent for The Oprah Winfrey Show and contributor to Nightline and National Geographic’s Explorer.
Over the years, she has reported, from many countries, covering stories about gang rape in the Congo, bride burning in India, and the Lord’s Resistance Army in Uganda, among many other issues that are too often ignored. Furthermore, her acclaimed documentary series, Our America with Lisa Ling, began airing on OWN in 2011.
She began her journalism career at the age of 21 and worked at Channel One News serving as a correspondent where she covered the civil war in Afghanistan. Later on, she joined ABC Daytime’s hit show The View where she served as its co-host. Furthermore, she has served as a special correspondent for CNN’s Planet in Peril. In addition, she is the co-author of Mother, Daughter, Sister, Bride: Rituals of Womanhood and Somewhere Inside: One Sister’s Captivity in North Korea and the Other’s Fight to Bring Her Home, which she penned with her sister, Laura.
