While Hughes worked at KIRO TV at CBS Newspath, the CBS-TV Station Group’s satellite news service in Washington, D.C, she served as a correspondent. Over the years, Lisa has covered almost every major news event in New England and she has interviewed many newsmakers in the area. In addition, she has received many honors a number of them including; a 2013 George Foster Peabody Award and a 2014 Columbia DuPont Award. The George Foster Peabody Award was presented to her for being part of the WBZ-TV team that covered the Boston Marathon Bombings.

In 2014 and 2016, Hughes received an Emmy Award for Best News Anchor. For her reporting, she received both an Edward R. Murrow Award and an Emmy Award. The Boston Magazine named Lisa as one of the “Best TV Personalitys” and “100 Most Influential People” in 2020. Furthermore, Lisa is actively involved in several community organizations and charities. Hughes serves on the development board at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, serves on the board of directors of Big Sister Boston, and volunteers her time with; Children’s Hospital Boston, Project 351, and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Dorchester.
