Lenny Thomas Biography
Lenny Thomas is an American Emmy-award-winning film and Television actor best known for starring in The Breaks (VH1), I Am Homicide (Investigation Discovery), and The Blacklist (NBC). He rose to fame after starring in Tyler Perry’s Ruthless, the spinoff of BET’s popular drama.
Lenny Thomas Career
Thomas was raised in New York City and went to Midtown West School, an elementary school in Manhattan focused on art and performance. However, it wasn’t until a few years later that he developed an interest in acting. Lenny’s childhood dream of playing professional football was abruptly dashed when he was hit by a car when he was thirteen years old. His Spanish teacher offered improv as an elective during his junior year of high school, and as soon as he took a taste of it, he realized he wanted to pursue performing.
Lenny’s teacher urged him to keep pursuing and honing his talent after the play “Take the Giant Step,” in which he was cast the following year. He took liberal arts classes at a community college after reading that advice, and it was there that he discovered nearby acting conservatories. Lenny claims that after enrolling in Neighborhood Playhouse School of Theater, he was “shot out of the cannon.” He experienced a paradigm shift while studying at the conservatorium, where he realized acting is his true calling.
Following years of training under James Brill and stage work in local theater, Lenny signed with an agent in 2016 and, less than a month later, was cast in his first television role as a Costar in USA’s Falling Water. Since then, Lenny has gone on to book a number of film and television projects, including, to mention a few, The Things In Between, The Breaks (VH1), I Am Homicide (Investigation Discovery), The Blacklist (NBC), and The Dark Room (shorts).
Lenny likes to work on his cinematography techniques and make entertaining material with friends and other actors in his spare time. He enjoys doing yoga and playing video games as ways to decompress, and he’s currently creating and recording his first inspirational podcast. At the moment, Lenny lives in Atlanta, Georgia.
