Lena Maria Arango is an American meteorologist working for FOX 26 as a weekend morning meteorologist. She joined the FOX 26 news team in August 2021, after previously working for WGGB.
New England is where Maria was born and brought up and attended Timberlane Regional High School where she earned a diploma. Later on, she joined Northern Essex Community College where she studied Business Transfer, Business Administration, and Management. Arango also graduated from the University of Massachusetts Lowell where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science Atmospheric Science Option in 2019. Furthermore, she also holds a Master of Science in Environmental Studies and Atmospheric Science from the University of Massachusetts Lowell.
Before Lena began her career as a meteorologist, she worked for almost ten years in retail and hospitality management and left in 2016. She studied under a number of scholarships and accolades including the inclusive of the RISE Sustainability Innovation Award. In addition, Maria worked on the Boston Marathon Weather Team for 3 years and she has completed research at the National Weather Center. She is very passionate about STEM education precisely for underrepresented groups.
While she was in college, she was a TA and she has taught College for Kids, in addition to being actively involved in mentoring the next generation of emerging scientists. She is a vegan and during her spare time, she enjoys traveling, running, reading, gardening, and spending ample time with her family.
