Latafat earned a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism from Ryerson University. Her journalism career started in 2014 after her graduation, when she spent less than a year working as a television and radio anchor and reporter at The Ryersonian, in Toronto. There, she repositioned story content for multiple contents anchored, wrote, and cut items for daily newscasts, and tracked and coached the newsroom on The Ryersonian’s analytics.
She then moved to Mississauga, Ontario, where she was a television entertainment host for TV One Canada. Her responsibilities there included interviewing studio guests over the phone and on camera every week and hosting out-of-studio segments, oftentimes reporting live from events. She also conducted detailed research for the show’s weekly topics and guests, pitched show themes, and prepared scripts without missing a single deadline.

She started as an intern at CBC/Radio-Canada, in Winnipeg, Canada Area, and then became a reporter at CTV News, in Saskatoon and an anchor at Global News Saskatoon. She also spent one year as a reporter at CTV News, in Kitchener, Canada Area. In Saskatoon, she worked as an anchor and reporter at Global News. There she Covered the 2015 federal election, including Stephen Harper’s campaign stop in Saskatoon and a one-on-one sit down with Harper.
