Lawrence Jones Career
Jones graduated from Garland High School in 2011 and pursued studies in political science and criminal justice at the University of North Texas. He then commenced his professional career as a student advocate in the Garland Independent School District, making him their youngest employee. At the age of 19, he ran for a seat on the school board for the same district, although he was unsuccessful in the election. He served for two years as a board member for Dallas County Child Welfare. In 2012, he was a member of the Garland Parks and Recreation Board. Recognized for his activism, he was named Activist of the Year by FreedomWorks in 2013. During that year, he went undercover for Project Veritas, a conservative organization founded by James O’Keefe.
His aim was to expose alleged fraud by vendors enrolling individuals in the healthcare marketplace of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. In April 2015, he initiated a fundraiser for Memories Pizza, an Indiana-based pizza shop that faced backlash and closure after its owners declared they would refuse to cater a gay wedding if requested. The fundraiser successfully raised $844,000 for the family, which was utilized for various expenses and charitable donations, including contributions to the owner’s church. He hosts The Lawrence Jones Show on TheBlaze Radio Network. He was previously a contributor to the conservative television show “Dana,” hosted by Dana Loesch on Blaze Media. In February 2018, he assumed the role of editor-in-chief at the conservative website Campus Reform. Furthermore, he identifies himself as a Libertarian.
In May 2018, he made a claim on Fox News suggesting that ESPN personality Jemele Hill did not deserve a journalism award from the National Association of Black Journalists because she was unemployed. He argued that the NABJ was essentially praising unemployment. In April 2019, during a Fox News segment at the U.S.-Mexico border in Laredo, Texas, he wore a small bulletproof vest, leading to online mockery. Several journalists who regularly cover the border region stated that they had never used protective gear during their reporting. In a subsequent Fox News appearance, he wore a larger vest, stating that the U.S. Border Patrol had advised him to wear it for his safety. He incorrectly attributed a lenient plea deal that sex offender Jeffrey Epstein received in 2008 to the Barack Obama Administration, erroneously claiming that Obama was the president at the time.
In October 2019, he moved to New York City after being promoted to a regular substitute host and co-host role at Fox News. He began hosting “Lawrence Jones Cross Country” on the network, taking over the former time slot of “Justice with Judge Jeanine” in 2022. At the end of April 2023, he was chosen to host “Fox News Tonight” for the week of May 1, filling the 8 pm time slot on Fox News as a temporary replacement for Tucker Carlson after Fox decided to part ways with him. He also helmed the program for the week of June 26, 2023. On September 14, 2023, Fox News announced that Jones had been appointed as a permanent co-host of “Fox & Friends,” resulting in him stepping down from his weekend program.
