Laura Moody is an American anchor working for FOX 13 Tampa Bay where she serves as a weekday morning co-anchor for Good Day Tampa Bay which airs from 6 am to 10 am alongside Russell Rhodes. In addition, she joined FOX 13 in 2006, as a weekend morning anchor alongside Bill Murphy.
Alabama is Laura’s native home and she attended Florida State University where she graduated proudly. Prior to joining WTVT, she worked for Nashville’s ABC affiliate WKRN, where she served as a weekend morning and evening anchor. She began her career in Sarasota where she worked for the New York Times-owned station SNN. Moody began working for WTVT in 2006, as a weekend morning anchor alongside FOX 13 favorite Bill Murphy.
Over the years, Laura has covered many incredible stories including the brave men and women at MacDill Air Force Base who took her on a number of wild rides. She recalls being taken 12,000 feet up into the air for a skydiving adventure by The Special Operations Command’s Parachute Team. In addition, Laura was the first female civilian to skydive from a CV-22 Osprey, and she has the opportunity to ride along with the KC-135 Air Refueling Squadron. Furthermore, she has seen the beautiful Bay Area from a Blackhawk helicopter.
Not long ago, Moody had the opportunity to ride with the United States Air Force Thunderbirds, pushing 7Gs. In 2008, she covered the run for the World Series and the American League Championship Series while she traveled to snowy Philadelphia. A number of her favorite stories to cover are the Good Day Grads segments whereby she shares the stories of high school seniors who are about to graduate as she discussed peer pressure and adversity with them. Furthermore, she also worked with the March of Dimes where she served as the co-chair of the March for Babies.
