Laura Garcia is an American Emmy Award-winning news anchor working for KNTV as a morning anchor covering the “Today in the Bay” show from 5 am to 7 am. She also anchors on the midday show alongside Marcus Washington from 11:00 am to 11:30 am. Prior to joining the KNTV News team, Garcia worked for KPHO-TV as an investigative reporter and anchor.

Garcia started her career in broadcasting at KGO TV in San Fransisco where she served as a production assistant for a year and in 1992, she left the station. Garcia then moved to Fresno Fox 26 to anchor and report. Later on, she was hired by ABC30 News and was a reporter for two years, that is from 1993 to 1995. Garcia then worked at KSEE 24 NBC News as a news reporter and anchor from 1995 up to 1997. Before joining KNTV NBC News 11, Garcia worked in Phoenix, Arizona for two years, serving as an investigative reporter at KPHO-TV.
Furthermore, while Garcia worked for KPHO-TV in Phoenix, Arizona, she earned many awards such as; a number of Emmy awards for reporting and writing, The Associated Press Reporter of the Year Award, and several AP awards. One of her greatest accomplishments is being acknowledged with a Best Daytime Newscast Award in the Bay Area by the Bay Area Women in Radio and Television.
While in high school, Laura disclosed her passion for journalism. She took part in the YMCA Youth In Government Club and spent time making bills and instituting laws in Sacramento. Later on, Garcia joined Saint Mary’s College Moraga, in California where she studied from 1987 to 1991. In addition, she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications and Government from the university. In her free time, she enjoys snowshoeing, skiing, golfing, reading, spending time with her friends and family, and cooking.
