Laura Diaz Biography
Laura Diaz is an American fourteen-time Emmy award-winning anchor and reporter who is currently working at KTTV. In addition, she joined the FOX 11 Los Agelos and KCOP team in May 2012.
Laura Diaz Career
For over twenty years, she has served as an anchor, and reporter, and produced for a number of flagship Los Angeles stations. She has worked at KABC and eventually, KCBS where she served as an anchor and reporter. In addition, after she graduated fresh out of college, she worked in San Luis Obispo at KSBY and in Fresno at KFSN.
Santa Paula is her birth home however, she was later brought up in Santa Clarita. Diaz attended William S. Hart High School where she graduated proudly. Later on, she joined California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly San Luis Obispo) where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English.
In 1983, she relocated to Southern California where she worked at KABC-TV at the station’s bureau in Orange County. While she worked at KABC-TV, she covered a number of stories while she served as a reporter including; the Northridge earthquake in 1994, the 1992 Los Angeles Riots, and the 1986 Los Angeles Central Library Fire
Later in 1985, she was promoted to serving as a weekend anchor at the station. After serving in the position for three years, she started serving as the 6 pm anchor. In addition, she was named as the 5 pm and 11 pm anchor at KABC-TV in 1997. This promotion made her the first female Hispanic lead anchor at an English-language television station in Los Angeles.
In September 2002, she joined KCBS-TV as the co-anchor of the 5 and 11 pm newscasts. alongside Harold Greene and they were later joined by Paul Magers in 2004. In addition, she served as one of the original hosts of Vista L.A. on KABC-TV. Furthermore, she joined FOX Los Angelos. In May 2012 and served as the weekend news broadcasts alongside Susan Hirasuna.
