LaDawn Blackett Jones is an American author, trial attorney, contributor, and entrepreneur working at FOX 5 Atlanta where she serves as a contributor. Previously, she served as a Georgia State Representative.
After she had graduated from Tennessee State University and Tulane Law School, she started her dream job in her hometown of Atlanta, Georgia where she served as an Assistant District Attorney. In 2010, she left the DA’s office as a Chief Senior Assistant District Attorney and the office’s first Director of the Community Prosecutor division. In addition, Blackett opened two businesses PolitaCoach, LLC, and later in 2012, she was elected to the Georgia General Assembly. She served as the State Representative for Douglas County, southwest Atlanta, East Point, and College Park for two terms.
Furthermore, she was selected to serve as the Georgia State Director by Bernie Sanders for his presidential campaign in 2016. While she was in the General Assembly, she was part of the team of legislators who created the City of South Fulton, which is predominantly African American and Georgia’s 5th largest city. In addition, she can be found on regular occasions as a legal and political commentator who appears as a contributor on each election night since 2016 on Atlanta broadcast television. She also appears on RT America, One America News Network, Fox News, CBS, Dr. Drew, TvOne, Law & Crime News, 1380 WAOK, MSNBC, iHeart Radio, and a number of other television and radio stations in the country.
LaDawn is also an author and she is currently completing the third commercial book she also writes for GeorgiaPol.com which is Georgia’s most popular political blog. Here second book was entitled Cheating but not Cheated which is a Memoir of the Atlanta Public Schools Cheating Scandal and was the inspiration for a documentary. The book was release in Spring 2019.
