Kristine Sorensen Biography
Kristine Sorensen is an American anchor and reporter working for KDKA as an evening co-anchor at 5 pm. She joined the KDKA news team in April 2003.

Kristine attended the College of William and Mary in Virginia where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Government with a minor in dance. She also studied at Northwestern University where she earned a Master’s Degree in Journalism. In addition, Kristine attended Southern Methodist University where she earned a marketing certificate and she has been an adjunct professor at Point Park University.
While working at KDKA, Kristine also serves as a special reporter and Kidsburgh stories, while in partnership with Kidsburgh.org as she featured positive things in the community. In addition, Kristine has also served as the host of “Pittsburgh Today Live” on KDKA, a position she held for 11 years. Prior to joining KDKA, Sorensen worked in Dallas, Texas where she served as a reporter and anchor.
In addition, for Sorensen’s featured reports, she won a Mid-Atlantic Emmy Award in the category of Human Interest Stories. She has covered stories such as; an Autism boy who learned how to speak with help from a special iPad speaking device, and a story on a colorful crossing guard, children in “A Musical Christmas Carol.” Furthermore, Kristine’s story about the Autism boy had over 2 million views, and for this, she won an Edward R. Murrow award.
For serving as the host of Pittsburgh Today Live she was awarded an AP Award in the category of best news talk show. Sorensen is an active volunteer in the community, and she was among the 5 people who won the “Paramount Impact Award” in 2022, for her community service. Together with her son, they began raising money to assist the children in Ukraine. In addition, Kristine worked for 10 years on the Board of Trustees for the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre.
Furthermore, Kristine is active in supporting; the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, the March of Dimes, and a number of Children’s Charity. Whenever she has time to spare, she enjoys; gardening, reading, playing tennis, and enjoying Pittsburgh’s cultural institutions. In addition, Sorensen studied dance when she was a child and performed with dance companies for a decade. She did a solo performance at the Byham Theater in 2013, with Bodiography Contemporary Ballet company’s performance.
